Leaders, what are you creating?

Leaders,
You are constantly creating. You create at home. You create at work. Your creation has significant implications. It brings people together or divides them. It creates foundations for your people to stand firmly in the face of adversity or grow when their thoughts are laced in fear. It brings hope for the future. It provides perspective in the depths of difficulty. Your creation can balance the demands of work with the development of what is within their heart.
You create with your words. Intentionally chosen or not. Your words have impact. Your words reveal what is really within you. They reveal what you prioritize. They reveal what you really think.
And you can mislead people with them for a short season, but ultimately, the truth shines through. You can say that you believe in someone (when you don't); only to reveal later your true thoughts through subtle departures from your original message. (Of note: how can we change our mindsets or thoughts in a significant way?
Your words create an environment. They create a space that others in your influence live within. So, give thought to what you want that space to look like. What do you want that space to accomplish? What type of intentional influence do you want to have? What type of development is important for your vision? How do you want to impact their own journey? What do you want them to walk away with if they eventually go their separate way?
What do you want those that they influence (peers, customers, etc) to experience? You are part of that environment also; your influence spreading like ripples produced from your rock being tossed in a pond.
Be thoughtful. It matters.
And as you typically experience, working on the important things requires intentionally stepping back from the lure of the urgent demands of your life. But as the word suggests, it's important. So, step back, give thought, and be intentional moving forward. Share your new hope for moving forward and allow your circle of influence to hold you accountable. You are not infallible.
Go influence with intentionality,
Eric
